July 17 Weekend Trail Report
July 17, 2026 12:00 PM
Thunderstorms continue to move through the area this morning ahead of what looks to be another hot summer weekend in the Treasure Valley. Please be mindful of areas that may have received significant rainfall and give muddy trails time to dry before heading out (which shouldn't take long in the heat).
We also continue to remind trail users to stay off all closed trails as containment efforts continue following the Claremont Fire, which started on July 6, 2026. The Ridge to Rivers interactive trail map is up to date with the latest closures from 8th Street to Rocky Canyon: https://www.ridgetorivers.org/trails/interactive-map/
We appreciate your cooperation as we work with fire managers to give crews the space they need to safely complete their work. Assessment of burned areas is ongoing as it is safe to do so.
As temperatures climb into the triple digits this weekend, we recommend hitting the trails early to avoid the hottest part of the day. Always pack plenty of water for you and your pet. If you're looking for cooler conditions, consider heading to higher elevations. Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is open and hosting several events this weekend. Happy trails!
