Hikers + Runners

While all Ridge to Rivers trails are open to hiking or running, there are a small number of trails designated specifically for pedestrians only. While this is one management tool to spread out users and prevent potential conflicts on the trails, the Ridge to Rivers team tries to find other solutions to manage challenges prior to closing a trail for certain uses.
The following trails are designated "pedestrian-only" along the Ridge to Rivers Trail System:
- Camel's Back Trail #40
- Hulls Gulch Interpretive Trail #0
- The Grove Trail #38
- Red Winged Blackbird Trail #35A
- Freestone Creek Trail #22B
- Rim Trail #102
These trails are designated "pedestrian-only" for the following reasons:
- The main function of the trail is to provide an educational experience
- There is a need to separate uses in a busy area to minimize conflicts
- The steep grade of a trail would increase erosion if other uses were allowed
- The experiences desired by the community means a more managed approach
